Remarks (Bemerkungen)
The Citation XLS is an improved version of the Citation Excel, which it will replace. Major differences are:
- ·PW545B engines, delivering 4,9 per cent more thrust. Its development began in mid-2002 and it flew on the Boeing test bed in January 2003. Certification was targeted for December 2003 (in Canada).
- Honeywell Primus 1000 Control Display System with three 8 x 10 inch liquid crystall displays (one for each pilot and one MFD in the center)
- More equipment as standard fit, like APU, UNS-1ESP, TCAS II, EGPWS
- LED lights in the cabin
The XLS will be delivered with a comprehensive standard warranty: five years or 5,000 hours on the airframe and Honeywell Primus 1000 CDS avionics; five years or 2,500 hours on the Pratt & Whitney engines; and one year for paint, interior, and other supplier items.
History (Geschichte)
The Cessna Citation XLS was announced on 7 October 2003 at the NBAA Convention in Orlando, Florida and was billed as a logical step up for customers moving up from smaller light jets. At the NBAA, Cessna anticipated the certification in the first quarter of 2004 with first deliveries in mid-2004.
On March 23, 2004, Cessna announced that the Citation XLS had received its FAA program approval. It also said that final performance numbers were better than or identical to those announced at NBAA.
