Remarks (Bemerkungen)
The Ae 270 Ibis is a single turboprop aircraft usable for cargo transport, passenger operations or business-flying applications. Two versions are proposed:
  • Ae 270P: Features Pratt turboprop and is fully pressurized.
  • Ae 270W: simplified variant with cheap Walter engine, fixed landing gear, and without pressurization. Main markets would be the third world and the CIS.
Aero Vodochody is responsible for the design and builds the fuselage and tail. It will also conduct final assembly. AIDC of Taiwan contributes the wings and some other structural parts.
There is a dedicated marketing company in the USA, named Ibis Aerospace Ltd. and located at Kerrville, Texas.

History (Geschichte)
Aero Vodochody is working on the Ibis design since the beginning of the 90s, when the aircraft was initially announced as the L-270. The configuration was modified in 1991 and again revised in late 1993.
In March 1997, Aero and AIDC signed an agreement to form Ibis Aerospace as a 50-50 venture, which was established on 1 July 1997..
Roll-out of the first Ibis took place at Odolena Voda near Prague on 10 December 1999. At that time, a first flight was promised for February 2000, but this has slipped. In total, three prototypes will be used for air tests, while one airframe will be dedicated to static tests. Certification to FAR part 23 standards is expected in mid-2001, with customer deliveries beginning in the fourth quarter of the same year.
