Among the partners for the Phenom 100 are Pratt & Whitney, Garmin and Eaton Aerospace (hydraulics, flap actuators, thrust control, landing gear control lever, landing gear hydraulic components). History (Geschichte) Rumours that Embraer is going to enter the light jet/very light jet market were surfacing in the autumn of 2004. At that time, market surveys and customer presentations with nine different concept aircraft were under way. The entry of Embraer in the Very Light Jet and Light markets was approved by the Board of Directors in April 2005. The investment was said to be 235 million US-Dollars. It was officially announced on 3 May 2005. At that time, a service entry of mid-2008 was announced. Embrer began taking orders for the Phenom 100 in June 2005. By the autumn of 2005, some 300 to 350 engineers form Embraer and its suppliers were working on the joint definition phase of the VLJ. A first flight in the first quarter of 2007 was envisaged. A change in fuselage cross section from circular to slightly egg shaped was made. The name Phenom 100 was announced on 9 November 2005 at the NBAA Convention in Orlando, Florida. A full-scale mock-up was also shown there, featuring the cabin desgned by BMW DesignworksUSA. Garmin was announced as the avionics supplier. In early 2006 it was said that first metal cut for the Phenom 100 could be in June, with final assembly starting in 2007 for a first flight in the second quarter. The Joint Definition phase was completed in March 2006 with a preliminary design review, using a digital mock-up created with the CATIA V5 engineering software. Detailed design then got under way, with drawing releases starting almost immediately (Quck Attachment Device). Production should be 100 aircraft in 2009, it was said in the spring of 2006.
