The price of the R44 Raven II was given as 335000 US-Dollars in June 2002. This is about 28000 US-Dollars more than the Raven. Optional avionics will be priced the same.


Customers (Kunden)
Robinson started accepting orders for the Raven II version in June 2002.


Competition (Konkurrenz)
There is no direct competition to the R44 as it sits between smaller piston tpyes like the Schweizer 300 and Enstrom and much more expensive turbine helicopters like the Bell JetRanger or the MD Helicopters MD500-Series.


Remarks (Bemerkungen)
The R44 Raven II is the latest development of the R44 design, featuring
* a more powerful, fuel injected engine, giving much improved altitude performance
* a higher gross weight to compensate the higher empty weight
* a 28 volt electrical system


History (Geschichte)
The R44 Raven II was announced on June 18, 2002. It is expected to gain FAA certification in late August or early September.
Design of the origianl R44 began in 1985. The first prototype flew on 31. March 1990 and the second in January 1991.
In September 1999, Robinson introduced hydraulic power controls for the R44, first as an option. This completely eliminates stick vibration and control forces and immediately boosted sales. Thus, the new Raven variant was standard from April 2000.
