Remarks (Bemerkungen)
The S-Ray 007 is a light, two-seat sports amphibium fitting the new LSA regulations in the US. It echoes the design of the Dornier Libelle I of 1921, but features modern composite construction. The wing can be folded.
Project support was provided by STZAFL, which was responsible for concept and the 3 dimensional design of fuselage, wings, empennage and steering. For the pilot survey of flight and swim behaviour, the STZAFL constructed and tested a model in scale 1:4. The design was made completely in Catia V5. The obtained data were directly used to manufacture the negative moulds, laser and watercut parts.

History (Geschichte)
Water tests at the Seemoser Horn on Lake Constance started in early July 2007.
The S-Ray 007 flew for the first time on the afternoon of 14 July 2007 at Friedrichshafen airport, with Gerhard Thalhammer at the controls.
Right after the first few flights, the S-Ray 007 was crated and shipped to the USA, where it was shown at the AirVenture in Oshkosh.
