Two certification-test aircraft will be built for a first flight in mid-1998. Certification will follow in the third quarter of 1999, and deliveries to FedEx are to begin in December of that year. Ayres plans to build a dozen Loadmasters in 1999 and 48 in the year 2000, at a new assembly site in Georgia. The Loadmaster was especially designed for high-priority cargo carriage, both bulk and containerized cargo. Low cost and simple maintenance are priorities. Passenger and military versions (photo) will be available, as well as a floatplane model.
