The L 159B successfully completes first flight

The first test flight of the new L 159B, advanced jet training aircraft from AERO Vodochody took place on Saturday, 1 June 2002.

The aircraft piloted by AERO´s chief test pilot, Miroslav Schutzner and test pilot Rostislav Stroin, took off from Vodochody airport a few minutes after 3 o´ clock. The L 159B was accompanied by the L 159 two-seat prototype during this test flight. The L 159B flew for almost an hour and reached the altitude of 11 000 meters. All systems worked optimally.

The first flight of the L 159B aircraft plays a major role in AERO´s existence and represents an important occasion not only for AERO but also for other Czech and international companies whose products are carried on board.

The L 159B will be introduced to the international public for the first time on the occasion of the Farnborough air show in Great Britain in July of this year. AERO is convinced that the L 159B provides an affordable and effective training solution for a number of air forces.
